Description

It has a triangular-shaped body, silvery white with five golden-brown bands from its eyes to the base of its tail. It has a single large black spot just below the tip of its dorsal fin.

Behavior

Generally peaceful, it can be found living in groups in shallow waters near coral reefs, with sandy or silt bottoms.

Reproduction

It is an oviparous species that reproduces by laying eggs. These fish are generally found in pairs during breeding season, forming, at times, long-term bonds

Communication & Perception

It communicates primarily through visual cues and, typical of related chaetodontids, likely uses acoustic signals for short-range interaction

Reef sharks, lionfish, groupers, barracuda, moray eels
