Description

The Pink Basslet is a type of anthias that features a pink to peach coloration. Males are pink, with an orange section on top of the head, a red spot on the dorsal fin, and a reddish tail. Females are a plain peach color without spots, and have a red-tipped tail. They live in groups in shallow waters, on sheltered reefs, bays, and lagoons.

Behavior

Stocky Anthias (Pseudanthias hypselosoma) are gregarious, diurnal, and active swimming carnivores that live in hierarchical harems, usually comprising one male and several females. 

Reproduction

Stocky anthias (Pseudanthias hypselosoma) are protogynous hermaphrodites, meaning all are born female and transition to males as needed. They live in harems with one dominant male and multiple females, spawning in open water. Females are often yellow/orange with two purple stripes, while males develop brighter red/yellow coloration.
