The longnose butterflyfish (Forcipiger flavissimus and F. longirostris) is characterized by a bright yellow, highly compressed body, a very long, forceps-like snout for feeding, and a distinctively divided head—black on top and white below

Perilaku

The longnose butterflyfish (Forcipiger flavissimus/longirostris) is a diurnal, largely monogamous reef fish known for its elongated snout, used to pick small crustaceans, tube feet, and worms from coral crevices. They are active swimmers often seen in pairs, defending territories with acoustic signals (popping sounds) and head-flicking.

Reproduksi

Longnose butterflyfish, are monogamous, oviparous pelagic spawners that form stable pairs and release thousands of buoyant eggs into the water column.

Longnose butterflyfish ( F. flavissimus) communicate primarily through a combination of acoustic signals (sound) and stereotyped body movements to establish territories and manage social encounters.

moray eels, groupers, snappers, sharks, triggerfish, and large wrasses
