Description
the Mexican redknee tarantula, is a large, terrestrial spider known for its striking color pattern, The body is dark, often black or deep chocolate brown, with vibrant orange-red patches on the patellae (knees) of the legs.
Behavior
They have a calm demeanor and slow-moving nature. Primarily found in Mexican scrublands, they are prone to flicking urticating hairs when threatened rather than biting.
Reproduction
Females produce a 400–800 egg sac about 4–6 months post-mating, which they guard for 1–3 months, with spiderlings hatching in about 9 weeks.

Fun Fact
When threatened, this tarantula will use its feet to shake off its fine stinging hairs on its hind legs and abdomen onto the threat. These fine hairs can pierce through skin or even eyes of the assailant, causing irritation, pain and discomfort.
