Brown Marbled Grouper

Description

The brown marbled grouper has a pale brownish-yellow body with irregular dark brown or gray spots. Like other groupers, it tends to be found near coral reefs, lagoons, or canals down to depths of 60 m. 

Behavior

This fish is solitary, living alone and tending to stay near the bottom, defending its territory. It is more active in foraging at dusk or dawn, preferring to rest during the day. 

Reproduction

These fish are broadcast spawners, releasing eggs and sperm into the water column. They spawn between February and April 

Communication & Perception

It communicates through a combination of visual signals, behavioral gestures, and potentially sounds to manage its solitary territory, coordinate cooperative hunting, and facilitate mating
