Description

The blacktip reef shark is a small, slender requiem shark easily recognized by its prominent black-tipped dorsal and caudal fins, which are highlighted with white. It features a blunt, rounded snout, brownish-gray top, and white belly 

Behavior

This species predominates in shallow habitats, while the other two are mostly found deeper. Fast-swimming and active, the blacktip reef shark may be encountered alone or in small groups 

Reproduction

Blacktip reef sharks are viviparous sharks with a gestation period of 7–16 months, giving birth to 2-5 pups per litter. 

Communication & Perception

They use specialized pectoral fin movements, parallel swimming, and tactile interactions—such as biting or bumping during mating—to express aggression, defense, or mating readiness.
