Deskripsi
They possess a dark grey-brown or blackish, roughly diamond-shaped body with distinct yellowish-white spots along the disc edges, and a white underside with broad, dark, dusky edges
Behavior
These rays are nocturnal, highly predatory, and often bury themselves in sandy or muddy substrates for camouflage. While generally peaceful, they use venomous tail barbs for defense and can be territorial toward other rays.
Reproduction
This species reproduces via aplacental viviparity, with females giving birth to 2-3 fully developed pups after a 3-4 month gestation.
Communication & Perception
These stingrays have specialized organs called Lorenzian ampullae located on their heads. These sensors allow them to detect weak electrical impulses in the water, which are used to sense prey and other stingrays.
