Description

Often referred to as the "dragon fish", this freshwater predatory fish known for its prehistoric appearance, metallic scales, and elongated body, which resembles a Chinese dragon. 

Behavior

They have two prominent, sensitive barbels on their lower jaw that function as sensory "feelers," allowing them to navigate and locate prey in dark or murky water. 

Reproduction

They reproduce in the wild primarily during the low-water, dry season. They are paternal mouthbrooders, with males carrying fertilized eggs and larvae in their mouths for up to two months to protect them
